Motorcycle Skills Assessment Course (MSA)
$795 including G.S.T./H.S.T.
PRS teaches you to become a rider who is knowledgeable, responsible and most importantly in control of your motorcycle. We start from the absolute basics and work up slowly and strategically to more intermediate skills. The MSA Certification course is designed for the new rider with no previous riding experience, however you must have your Motorcycle Learner’s Permit when you begin your course.
Our program offers a 30 hour course that is divided into 3 segments; 10 hours of classroom theory, 10 hours of parking lot training, and 2 road rides (one throughout the lower mainland including downtown and the second focusing on school zones / playground zones areas in the Surrey municipality).
Within our MSA course our certified instructors will evaluate your skills. Upon successful completion of your MSA test, which is administered at the end of your parking lot training, riders are allowed to ride unsupervised at all legal posted speed limits, once you have updated ICBC with your MSA paperwork. Once you have completed the course with our school, we will make arrangements with ICBC for a final road test on our bikes.
Courses start in early February, and continue until the first week of November. PRS is the only school in the Lower Mainland that offers many schedule options to accommodate our students. We are able to provide this kind of flexibility because; unlike most other schools, we do not rent (share) our training facilities with other businesses. Our training facility is owned and operated by Pacific Riding School, which also allows for private lessons should they be required. Your training will be conducted in a safe and controlled environment. New courses start on Monday every week. Maximum enrolment is 10 students per class with 1 instructor for every 5 students. Motorcycles, helmets, jackets with back, shoulders, elbow protection, gloves, knee and shin guards and rain wear are provided. Proper boots that are leather, cover the ankle, and have structural support are required.
Here are some of topics that are covered:
CLASSROOM:
In a comfortable classroom setting we will cover topics such as Riding Gear, Rider Attitude, Motorcycle Controls, Motorcycle Operation, Physics of Riding, Traction Control, Pre-trip Inspection, Traffic Regulation and Safety, Risk Assessment, Sharing the Road, Riding Conditions, and Hazard Avoidance.

LOT TRAINING:
In our privately owned training facility, we’ll safely cover topics such as; Starting, Clutch Control, Throttle Control, Brake Use, Gear Shifting, Slow Speed Ride, Turns and Curves, Stopping, Body Positioning and Balance, Hill Starts, and Vision Development.
ROAD TRAINING:
We apply everything you learn in the classroom and lot on your road rides. Instructor and students are linked via Kenwood FM Frequency Communicators that have an effective range of 8 kilometers. Instructions and feedback on your progress is immediate giving you the best in road experience. Rides will cover the following areas; Downtown Robson, Commercial Street, Chinatown, Gastown, UBC, Spanish Banks, Metrotown, Stanley Park, Kitsilano, Richmond, New Westminster, Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley. We want you to learn in the same environment in which you would be riding, after graduating from the course.
SCHEDULES:
We have new courses starting every Monday with 4 different options listed below for you to choose from. It is a 30 hour course that is scheduled over either a 1 week period or a 2 week period. Our course is scheduled as such to give you as much flexibility as possible. If however you still have a scheduling conflict, please specify this at time of registration so we may try to accommodate your needs.

If you’re fast, we can squeeze more in!
